What Is High Temperature Tape? What Are The Common High Temperature Tapes in The Market? What's The Difference?

Mar 13, 2023

High temperature tape generally refers to adhesive materials that can be used in a certain high temperature environment, including single-sided tape and double-sided tape. Generally speaking, high temperature resistance mainly refers to the application in the manufacture of industrial electronic products between 120 degrees and 260 degrees. Therefore, according to this definition, according to different base materials and different glues of high-temperature tapes, it can be divided into the following types (more common):

1. PET polyester film substrates are coated with acrylic glue, and the colors are transparent, brown, green, black and so on. This material generally has a long-term temperature resistance of 130-150 degrees, and a short-term temperature resistance of up to 180 degrees (within half an hour).

2. PET substrate polyester film coated with high-temperature silica gel, the color is transparent, brown, green (often called green silica gel), black and so on. This material has a long-term temperature resistance of 150-180 degrees, and a short-term temperature resistance of up to 220 degrees (within half an hour).

3. PI substrate polyimide film coated with acrylic glue, the colors are brown, black, white and so on. This material has a long-term temperature resistance of 180-230 degrees, and a short-term temperature resistance of up to 280 degrees (within half an hour).

4. PI substrate polyimide film is coated with high-temperature silica gel, and the colors are brown, black and so on. This material has a long-term temperature resistance of 220-260 degrees, and a short-term temperature resistance of about 300 degrees (within half an hour).

5. Teflon tape (also known as Teflon tape) is first made of glass fiber as the base cloth, coated with Teflon emulsion and dried to make Teflon glass fiber cloth, and then coated twice. A heat-resistant adhesive tape made of silicone. This material has a long-term temperature resistance of 260-300 degrees, and a short-term temperature resistance of about 350 degrees (within half an hour).

The above five types of high-temperature adhesive tapes with different substrates and different glues are considered to be the most common types in the market at present, among which the first four types of PET and PI-based high-temperature adhesive tapes are the most used in the market. (Note: Mylar tape and acetate cloth tape are not regarded as high-temperature tapes here.) Through the simple analysis above, we can basically see that the main difference between high-temperature tapes is the temperature resistance level. High-temperature tapes made of different materials and different glues are basically satisfied with 130 Different temperature resistance requirements between -300 degrees.

Which of the high-temperature tapes has the best performance? If we were to choose the high-temperature tape with the best overall performance, we think it should be the fourth type, which is the high-temperature adhesive tape coated with PI polyimide film and high-temperature silica gel. This material is also the earliest on the market. Genuine Goldfinger Tape. PI silicone high-temperature tape is the best and most widely used high-temperature tape in terms of temperature resistance, dielectric properties, processability, chemical resistance, etc.
